Medications District personnel shall not dispense oral medicine of any kind, including over-the-counter types, without written authorization by the parent/guardian of the student. If prescription medication or over-the-counter medication is necessary for a student to remain in school then this medication must be in the original container, with full directions on the label. All medications, including Tylenol, must be provided by the parent/guardian. Medications to be taken three times a day, does not need to be sent to school. These medications should be given in the morning, after school, and at bedtime unless otherwise specified by the physician. Exclusion from School To protect all children from communicable illnesses, students infected with certain diseases are not allowed to come to school while they are contagious. Students should be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. The guidelines below have been developed for the exclusion of students who have communicable or contagious diseases. These regulations are in conformance with the requirements of the local health authority and Pilot Point ISD administrative guidelines. A student with any of the following symptoms must be excluded from school until such time as the student is free of symptoms, has been satisfactorily treated or submits a signed physician’s statement that he/she is not contagious.
